Matthew 25:31: When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 25:32. He will separate as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 25:33 He will place the sheep on his right and the goats on the left. 25:34 Then the king will say to those on the right, "Come, you who are blessed by my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 25:35 "For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me." 25:36 "I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me." 25:37 Then the righteous will answer him saying, "Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink?" 25:38"And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you?" 25:39 "And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?" 25:40 And the King will answer them, "Truly I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'
1 Peter 4:10. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another.
All of us have a purpose in life and in God's creation. When you serve others, you are serving God. So no matter the situation, treat others as if they were they were the Lord himself. Everyone's walk with Jesus is different. As we walk, we use our God given gifts to help others. There is no age limit to sharing your gifts. You can continue into, and through, retirement years. You already know your gifts which you have been using throughout your life and now can continue to use them as you grow in service to the Lord.
Psalm 71:8 "Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, my God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your mighty acts to all who are to come.."
This mission for me, as a retired social worker and a follower of Christ, is to continue using my gifts to serve God by helping others as I witness about Jesus and salvation. Although I have very limited knowledge of health and physical conditions, what I can do is offer empathetic listening, emotional support and companionship to those who feel alone , the handicapped, caretakers, individuals and family relationships. This is a service, not a job. ,
Acts 20:35 Paul says: In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said :it is more blessed to give than to receive.
We all have our burdens and trials. It is a good feeling to lift someone's burden or trial or at least attempt to ease someone's burden.
James 4:14 You do not know what tomorrow will bring and what is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and than vanishes.
Psalm 46:1-3 God is our refuge and strength, a very pleasant help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; though the waters therefore roar and be troubled; the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.
Luke 1:31 For nothing will be impossible with God.
John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved.
Learn and grow by reading the bible, the Word of God, to know what and how you can serve others. To not have time or make time to serve others is saying you don't have time, nor will make time, for God.
The bible can be overwhelming. A suggestion is to check with your local Christian bookstore for help as to where to start. Any help or service you can provide may seem small to you but to someone in need the help could be immense.
May God Bless You!
